For the Welcome Film Festival artists and filmmakers with non-Danish backgrounds invite guests into their private homes

to show the films they have created.

04 to 26 March 2026 — Copenhagen

Over the course of the festival, films will be screened not in cinemas, but in private spaces — creating site-specific micro-cinemas

shaped by each host’s context and hospitality. Press image and poster

No jury. No institutional filters. (No censorship.) Each creator selects their own work and defines the conditions of viewing.

The result is a plurality of voices, formats, experiments, and experiences.

Through its decentralized and self-organized structure, the Welcome Film Festival challenges the conventions of cultural presentation,

offering an alternative model rooted in openness, conviviality, and autonomy.

Films Programmation : “What is a film ? , What is a festival ?”

Thierry Geoffroy / Colonel, known for his Emergency Art Formats such as Emergency Room and Critical Run, will present a personal selection of his films
and will, in between, engage in a debate about “What is a film? What is a festival?”

"My Parents in Algeria"

"The Immigrant"

“Which Image of Greenland Do People in Denmark Have?”

Together, these works trace a complex trajectory: the artist, born the son of a French colonial army officer in Algeria, reflects on how he evolved from exploring the world as a tourist to becoming an immigrant in Denmark.

The screening explores themes of identity, displacement, and post-colonial memory — while also questioning the nature of film and the role of the film festival itself.

This event is part of the Welcome Film Festival, a new Emergency Art Format created by the artist to foster intimate encounters, artistic freedom, and political reflection through private, home-based screenings.

Film duration: 1h30

Post-film gathering: Yes, screening followed by an open discussion and informal gathering.

Location: Amager

Film: NEITHER/NOR

Duration: 17 min

“NEITHER/NOR” is an art film production by Abel Alazo and Tijana Miskovic for the Australian artist Danius Kesminas. The film is inspired by EITHER/OR, one of the significant works of the Danish philosopher Søren Kierkegaard. In dialog with the artist, we decided to point out elements from Kierkegaard’s existentialist thinking in a visually poetic approach and with Copenhagen as the point of departure. Kierkegaard’s famous reflective walks through the city of Copenhagen were the base for the storyline, colored by his emotional contradictions. Centralized by the protagonist figure played by the artist (Kesminas) recreating Kierkegaard’s character, the storyline takes the viewer on a journey of reflection and dualities. Aesthetically the resulting film was a graphic visual narrative in a noir comic book style.

Audience capacity: TBD

Copenhagen, Denmark. University students start a political boycott. Yet before their time, Danish higher education had changed deeply. And even earlier than that, a devastating conflict had broken out in the Middle East. Nowadays, it is its brutal echo that is pushing the students to demand justice.

Valérie Collart

Valérie Collart (b. 1981) is a French visual artist based in Copenhagen (DK), whose work centers around sculpture and photography. She studied at the École Nationale

Supérieure d’art Villa Arson in Nice, where she obtained a BA in 2004 and MA with honourable mention in 2006.

Her practice moves between photography and sculpture, exploring the dynamic relationship between the two media. I work in the space between the manipulated, artificial and perfected image and the raw, physical and spatial object.

“My work inserts itself into the continuum of historical and classical references drawn from art history, where beauty functions as a force of permanence and invites a deep engagement with our collective visual memory.”

The resulting works are deliberately difficult to place as either contemporary or historical, inserting themselves into a timeless aesthetic. Valérie is a French artist, was born in France in 1981 and move d to Denmark in 2008.

Film

I'll show a video installation composed of 3 different videos that will come one after the other. The sequence will be looped.

Titles of the 3 videos: "Serpent", "Twisted column", "Putty"

The three video works “Serpent”, “Twisted column” and “Putty” belong to a series of four videos called “Tricky objects”. They are collaborative works created together with Sebastian Brink and signed by both of us, using photography (re-contextualised and displaced), and 3D generated images. Through these works, we would like to reflect on the dematerialisation of the physical object and the interplay between the real and the virtual representation of the sculptures.

Audience capacity: 5 people

Post-film gathering: Since it will be a video installation more than a film. The conversations can occur during the screening
